Radiation Oncology Residency ProgramThe Radiation Oncology Residency Program is a four-year clinical training program aimed at training highly qualified radiation oncologists. During a four year period of time, residents rotate through three-month block of one-to-one training with faculty at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Robert Wood Johnson Hamilton Cancer Center, and UMDNJ University Hospital (Newark) Radiation Therapy facility. There are many educational and teaching conferences sponsored by the Department, The Cancer Institute of New Jersey, UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and the hospitals. Weekly didactic courses in radiation physics and radiobiology are repeated every year, and residents are required to attend the courses to learn the physical and biological principles that are the backbone of radiation oncology. Residents routinely attend weekly disease-specific multidisciplinary tumor boards, weekly departmental "New Patient" conferences and chart rounds, and monthly grand rounds. CINJ and the Department each host monthly Grand Rounds with invited expert clinicians and scientists. Weekly journal club helps residents to keep in pace with the cutting edge in radiation oncology. In addition to sharing many patients' care with Fellows and faculty in medical oncology, residents routinely attend the weekly Fellow's Lecture. For additional information please contact: |
