Study Examines Needs of Cancer Survivors When They No Longer Require Specialized Care
A research study sponsored by the National Cancer Institute, CINJ and the U.S. Department of Defense will look at how breast and prostate cancer survivors view their medical needs as they no longer need to be under the care of an oncologist and go back to their regular family doctor, internist or gynecologist for follow-up care. Clinical Trial Focuses on New Treatment Combination for Most Common Type of Non-Invasive Breast Cancer
Researchers at CINJ have launched a clinical trial that targets a new treatment combination for the most common type of non-invasive breast cancer known as ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS). The trial, sponsored by the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP), will compare the effects of adding the drug trastuzumab to radiation therapy following breast sparing surgery (lumpectomy) in patients whose DCIS makes too much of the protein known as HER2 (positive).  Read More
