Genomic Instability and Tumor Progression Program
Program Leaders:
Overall Goals:
The overall goals of the newly established GITP are to uncover how genomic instability and cellular signaling pathways contribute to cancer invasion, dissemination and metastasis, and to identify new approaches to the prevention and treatment of cancer progression.
Specific Aims:
- Identify mechanisms of genomic instability that contribute to cancer progression.
- Identify mechanisms of cancer invasion, dissemination and metastasis
Our expectation is that understanding the role of genomic instability and of critical signaling pathways in cancer progression will result in the development and clinical validation of novel therapeutic strategies for cancer. This will be greatly facilitated by ensuring seamless interactions between our two major research themes and the complementary focus groups within the Clinical Science Program.
