Classes & Support Groups in the Learning Room.
The Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ) provides access to classes and support groups for patients, families, and friends. Many of these events take place in the Learning Room.
STEPs for Learning
STEPs (Skills to Empower People) for Learning is a free education series for cancer patients, family members and friends sponsored by CINJ. Each one-hour class is taught by a healthcare professional. Sample topics include but are not limited to: what you need to know about clinical trials, relaxation and stress management, nutrition during treatment, understanding your medications, and alternative and complementary medicine.

Treatment Patient Orientation
A free class for CINJ patients and their families who are about to begin cancer treatment. The treatment orientation class will help you to:
- Prepare for your first treatment
- Learn all about The Cancer Institute of New Jersey
- Meet your healthcare team
- Get a handle on cancer resources available to you
- Get answers to your questions
Meeting Dates and Time:
All classes meet from 12 noon - 1:15 p.m.

- December 23rd, Wednesday

Bone Marrow Transplant Orientation
A free class for CINJ patients and their families. The orientation class will help you to:
- Learn about your bone marrow transplant
- Get tips to help you through treatment
- Meet your healthcare team
- Get answers to your questions
Meeting Dates and Time:
All classes meet from 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month.

Radiation Oncology Patient Orientation
A free audio slide show for patients and their families. This program will help:
- Orient you to radiation, members of your healthcare team and the process
- Prepare you for your treatments

Look Good...Feel Better®
Look Good...Feel Better® is a free program that teaches beauty techniques to women cancer patients in active treatment to help them combat the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment.
These beauty workshops are provided by the American Cancer Society and are hosted at CINJ.
Workshop dates:
All workshops meet on a Monday from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
